MP3 Recording Format

The Philips Digital Voice Tracer 880 records in the popular MP3 format. Choose among several MP3 recording modes, with two stereo modes including SHQ and HQ, or three monaural modes including SP, LP and SLP for extended recording times. MP3 recording modes, with recording times:

MP3 and WMA Stereo Playback With Equalizer Modes

The recorder supports music files in .wma and .mp3 formats that can be transferred from the computer to the music folder of the recorder. Files with copy protection (digital rights management) are not supported. The Voice Tracer supports up to two folder levels within the music folder. Each folder can hold up to 199 entries (files and folders). During music playback you can change the equalizer mode (Normal > Classic > Jazz > Rock > Pop > Normal).

High-Sensitivity Microphone

The signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio of the high-sensitivity microphone is far better than those of standard microphones. Recording sensitivity is increased (picks up more voice signal) without compromising sound quality. The microphone picks up every detail of the human voice to give superb sound reproduction.

Two-Level Adjustable Microphone Sensitivity

Voice-Activated Recording

Voice-activated recording mode is a convenient feature for hands-free dictation without having to worry about remembering to push the record button. When voice-activated recording is enabled, the DVT is in Record Standby mode; recording will start automatically when the input level exceeds a certain threshold (i.e. usually when you start dictating). Recording stops a few seconds after you stop speaking and restarts automatically when you start speaking again.

Auto Divide

The auto divide feature, when activated, automatically divides long recordings into separate files. The auto divide feature automatically records into a new file every 30 or 60 minutes (user selected). This makes it much easier to find, edit and archive long recordings such as meetings or lectures.

USB Powered Recording

To record long conferences, the Digital Voice Tracer can be powered through a USB port. Connect the USB cable from a computer to the Digital Voice Tracer, and then press and hold the record button on the Voice Tracer until REC is shown on the display. You can now record your conference or meeting without draining the battery.
